MARRAKECH, 29th May, 2024 (WAM) -- Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, led a UAE Delegation during the official opening of GITEX Africa 2024, which was attended by Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, and Dr. Ghita Mezzour, Moroccan Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.
As part of the city’s participation, the Dubai Pavilion will showcase more than 25 advanced digital projects and initiatives presented by 9 entities from Dubai, with the aim of highlighting the role of these projects in enhancing digital city experiences and consolidating Dubai’s position as a global pioneering city in this field.
During his speech, Al Mansoori said, "The UAE's relations with Morocco have evolved and become increasingly prominent and entrenched over the years, it gives an example in the fraternal relationship based on sustainable cooperation and coordination in the common interest for both sides”.
“This event serves as a modern twin to GITEX Dubai, the global and prestigious event, helping Marrakesh to become Dubai’s twin in its aspiration for a bright human future based on harnessing the latest technologies to serve people everywhere," he added.
Dubai’s participation at the 2nd GITEX Africa, which was kicked off today and runs until 31st May, gathers 9 government entities. The list of services that will be showcased at the Dubai Pavilion include “Invest in Dubai” an interactive platform by DET dedicated for investors.
Dubai Civil Defence will shed the light on many initiatives such as Eco Readiness and Dubai Civil Defence Readiness. The event will also witness DEWA’s projects including Smart Office, Smart Grid, Mobile App, Website in addition to Dubai Digital Clouds, Cybersecurity Services, Managed Services, Professional Services.
Dubai Municipality will also showcase services related to the building and construction sector including “Build in Dubai” a unified electronic platform designed to provide all services and information covering all needs and desires related to construction activities in Dubai.
DP World will showcase the Dubai Trade website, a portfolio of smart services including marine services, manifest and cargo handling services, cargo clearance and haulage services, invoicing and payment services, and free zone services.
Joining other entities, Dubai Police will showcase both Dubai Police Application and Dubai Police Website, while Dubai Customs will shed the light on its 4th Generation Services.
The event will witness the participation of 130 countries and will work to enhance international exchanges and collaborations, enhancing its position and role to become a major platform for innovation and economic development in Africa.
