ROME, 3rd June, 2024 (WAM) -- Italy's world number two Jannik Sinner will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals of the French Open tennis tournament, Italian news agency ANSA reported on Monday. Sinner beat France's Corentin Moutet 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Australian Open champion dropped the first set as he took some time to get to grips with his opponent's innovative style of play, but then galloped away. Sinner will replace Novak Djokovic and become Italy's first tennis singles world number one if he reaches the final of Roland Garros. Dimitrov knocked out Poland's Hubert Hurkacz in the last 16.
