Italy's inflation in 2023 falls 1 percentage point to 6.9%

ROME, 7th June, 2024 (WAM) – Italy's inflation in 2023, excluding the prices of imported energy, was 6.9 percent, a 0.1 of a percentage point decrease compared to the previous year, Italian news agency ANSA reported on Firday, quoting the preliminary estimate of the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat).

The inflation rate was measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which is used to measure consumer price inflation in Euro zone.

Istat said it forecasts that the average inflation rate for 2024 will be 1.9 percent, and at 2.0 percent in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
