BUCHAREST, 13 June 2024 (WAM) -- A total of 2,308 companies with foreign capital have been established in Romania during the first four months of 2024, representing a 0.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, Romanian news agency (Agerpres) quoted the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC) as saying.
The 2,308 new companies had a total subscribed capital of more than US$12.4 million, a rise of 46.4% compared to the subscribed capital of companies registered in January-April 2023, which stood at US$8.47 million.
In April 2024, 633 companies with foreign participation were registered (+32.7% compared to the same month in 2023), with a subscribed capital of 2.17 million RON (+37.8%).
The most popular fields of activity for new registrations were wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (35.23% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (17.06% of the total), and transport, storage and communications (15.32%).
At the end of April 2024, there were 253,534 companies with foreign participation in the share capital in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital was over $70.58 billion.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation was with investors from Italy, respectively 53,077 (subscribed capital of approximately $3.37 billion), but the highest value of the share capital belongs to Dutch companies, respectively $13.063 billion, in 6,146 of companies.
