ROME, 13th June, 2024 (WAM) -- Italy wrapped up their best-ever European Athletics Championships with 24 medals – 11 gold, nine silver and four bronze.
Italian news agency ANSA reported that Italy's sprint relay team won 11th gold for the national team on Wednesday in the 4x100m.
Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs won the gold again in the relay after retaining his individual European 100m title on Saturday. Jacobs won the relay along with Matteo Melluzzo, Lorenzo Patta and Filippo Tortu in 37.82 seconds.
Italy also took silver in the men's 4x400 relay and in the women's long jump thanks to Larissa Iapichino. Pietro Arese won bronze in the men's 1500 metres.
