ATLANTA, 27th June, 2024 (WAM) -- In Copa America, United States are set to face Panama in an important Group C match. Uruguay and Bolivia will play later to close the second day of Group C.
Scheduled Thursday late evening in the U.S., both matches can be watched from the UAE early Friday.
U.S. vs Panama
The U.S.-Panama match will be at 18.00 local time in Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium (02.00 Friday in UAE).
The United States enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 victory in their opening match against Bolivia, with Pulisic scoring the first goal and assisting the second. If the United States were to win again against Panama, they would make history, winning their first two matches to start the tournament for the first time ever.
Panama on the other hand battled hard against Uruguay. Even though they lost 3-1 to start the tournament, the Concacaf team proved to be a tough matchup for the 15-time Copa champions. Against an opponent they are very familiar with, Panama will be eager to rebound and spoil the American’s chance at history.
The two teams have never met in the history of the tournament.
The last match between the two teams was at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup Semifinals, in which Panama defeated the United States in a penalty shootout to advance to the finals.
Uruguay vs Bolivia
At 21.00 local time in MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (05.00 Friday in UAE), Uruguay and Bolivia will determine their future in Group C. The second round of Group C will conclude with this match.
Uruguay was the highest-scoring team in the first round (3 goals) with a great performance against Panama. A favourable result in the first match (Panama vs. USA) and a win for Uruguay could secure them a spot in the Quarter-finals with one game remaining.
Bolivia, on the other hand, debuted with a loss against the host, the USA. La Verde seeks to earn their first points and position themselves in the standings.
This is a match between the two CONMEBOL teams in Group C, at MetLife Stadium, where two days earlier, Argentina and Chile delivered a thrilling match.
