BRUSSELS, 4th July, 2024 (WAM) -- The Coordination Unit for Threat Analysis (CUTA) of Belgium has said that the overall threat to Belgium will remain at level 3, or "serious", until at least the end of the summer.
This came as part of the annual report prepared by the unit and published today.
CUTA is the independent Belgian centre of knowledge and expertise in charge of assessing the terrorist and extremist threat in Belgium and against Belgian citizens and interests abroad.
Unit director Gert Vercauteren said, "We take several factors into account, namely the number of reports, the number of terrorism files in the judiciary, police and intelligence services, and events that may lead to terrorist reactions."
The current threat level 3 has been in place in Belgium since last October.
