ROME, 6th August, 2024 (WAM) -- Spain and Italy have achieved the first and second place respectively in the list of EU countries that have the highest number of organ donors.
Spain is the word leader in organ donation with 48.9 donors per million population, Italian news agency ANSA reported. Italy, with 28.2 donors per million population, had the second highest organ donation rate in the European Union in 2023, according to the latest annual activity report on transplants published on Tuesday on the website of the National Transplant Centre.
France (26.3), Great Britain (21.3) and Germany (11.4) are just behind Spain and Italy.
