Dubai attracts major global media production projects

DUBAI, 6th November (WAM) – Dubai has successfully established itself as a premier destination attracting major global media production projects, owing to its advanced infrastructure, diverse filming locations, and exceptional support services, including 24-hour filming permits that meet the needs of this rapidly growing industry.

In this context, Plus Studio has resumed filming the third installment of the “Silver Spoon” movie series, titled Silver Spoon in Dubai, in collaboration with the Dubai Film and TV Commission.

This project marks Plus Studio’s first international collaboration and extends its productions into the Middle East and North Africa region. Scenes are being shot against Dubai’s stunning desert landscapes, the iconic skyscraper rooftops, and the charming historic districts of the city, adding more excitement and intrigue to the film’s storyline.

Dubai has long attracted top-tier production companies and renowned film studios from around the world, offering a wealth of filming locations and cutting-edge infrastructure. The city has hosted numerous action blockbusters, including Kung Fu Yoga, Vanguard, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Star Trek Beyond, and other box-office hits.

The Dubai Film and TV Commission provided comprehensive support to Plus Studio and the Kinopoisk platform, facilitating the acquisition of all necessary permits from government entities and private institutions, as well as offering assistance to ensure a smooth and effective filming process.

The film Silver Spoon in Dubai is the first collaboration between the two parties. Established in 2012, the Dubai Film and TV Commission aims to enhance Dubai’s position as a global hub and an attractive site for film, TV, and media content production by coordinating with government authorities, location stakeholders, and other key parties to create a seamless filming environment.

The Dubai Film and TV Commission emphasized its commitment to supporting Dubai’s capacity to host such major international productions and to leveraging its advanced infrastructure to attract global cinematic projects. They work in close collaboration with dedicated teams, including Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Municipality, and the Roads and Transport Authority, as well as partnering with private-sector organizations like the Dubai International Financial Centre, One&Only One Za’abeel resort, Hamdan Sports Complex, and Emaar. This project marks the beginning of a promising partnership with the Russian market.

Plus Studio and Bar Production are collaborating with the Dubai Film and TV Commission to produce Silver Spoon in Dubai, which is scheduled for release in Russia in 2025, with a later broadcast on the Russian streaming platform Kinopoisk.

The commission continues its mission to elevate Dubai’s status as a global filmmaking hub by providing world-class facilities such as sound stages at Dubai Studio City and a pool of top production talent.

Dubai has previously served as the backdrop for major international productions, including Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Star Trek Beyond, Kung Fu Yoga, Geostorm, Vanguard, Pathaan, and several successful Bollywood films.

Plus Studio is a specialized content production hub for Yandex Plus subscribers, investing in co-production projects alongside managing its own projects, exhibitions, and licensed products.

Kinopoisk is one of Russia’s premier online streaming platforms and a key source of film-related content.
