ABU DHABI, 17th November, 2024 (WAM) -- Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, stated that the Global Media Congress (GMC) has successfully established an effective platform that brings together a distinguished group of prominent Arab and international experts, specialists, and media professionals to meet, exchange ideas and experiences.
The Congress provides experts with a valuable opportunity to discuss numerous pressing issues facing the media landscape in the current era, particularly amidst various political, social, economic, and technological developments, he added.
In a statement marking the third edition of the Global Media Congress, set to take place on 26th November, Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi said that Abu Dhabi's hosting of this event enhances the UAE's position as a global hub for dialogue and engagement in modern media fields, especially as it hosts numerous leading Arab and international media institutions that have chosen the UAE as their base for ongoing operations.
He emphasised that the UAE, guided by its wise leadership, has successfully solidified its pioneering presence among the foremost countries supporting innovation in media fields.
He explained that this progress motivates the Ministry of Culture to continue supporting these efforts by strengthening avenues of cooperation between the Ministry and media and cultural institutions. “By moving forward with launching more initiatives that empower media professionals and creatives to keep pace with technological advancements and the challenges of the digital age," he noted.
The Minister of Culture emphasised that rapid advancements in the media sector require staying current with the latest trends and technologies. He stressed the importance of innovating content delivery by utilizing cutting-edge technologies to amplify media messages and enhance its role as a soft power, fostering cultural and intellectual communication and promoting international understanding among nations.
“We look forward to the new insights this year's event will offer, playing an active role in advancing the reality and status of media, while supporting sustainable development efforts on both regional and international levels,” he concluded.
