VIENNA, 23rd November, 2024 (WAM) -- Austria has launched a new programme to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector, focusing on digital transformation and promoting innovative digital solutions to reduce emissions.
The Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology has allocated a budget of €9 million to create a sustainable digital mobility system that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars, trucks and trains and optimise the use of digitalisation in mobility.
"Our goal is to become climate-neutral by 2040," said Leonore Gewessler, the Federal Minister.
Austria is prioritising new initiatives, particularly the digitalisation of mobility, to meet its climate policy targets. These efforts focus on road transport and the practical application of digital and automated railway systems to drive a sustainable shift in transportation.
