Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief reviews future plans, projects of General Department of Airport Security

DUBAI, 24th November, 2024 (WAM) -- Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, reviewed the future plans and strategic projects of the General Department of Airport Security.

These department's projects align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as Dubai prepares for a new phase of growth in the global aviation sector, aiming to lead international aviation for the next forty years.

Al Marri also reviewed the strategic indicators, the readiness of core operations, and the modern systems, programs, and technologies implemented by the General Department of Airport Security.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasised that the General Department of Airport Security in Dubai operates per a clear strategy aligned with the directives of the Dubai Government. He highlighted that Dubai Police possesses the capabilities to achieve a high level of performance, supported by modern systems, programs, and technologies.

"This positions the force as a model for advanced security operations in safeguarding the aviation sector and ensuring efficient processing for airport users. In collaboration with partners, we successfully secured 87 million travellers and passengers and nearly two million tons of cargo in 2023, all executed efficiently and professionally, providing a safe travel experience for those using Dubai's airports," Al Marri continued.

He also noted that Dubai airports have become the world's most important airports, leading in civil aviation. "To this end, Dubai Police has developed security strategies to protect the airports and ensure the smooth movement of passengers and cargo, in line with the scale of operations at Dubai's bustling airports. They have introduced new systems, programs, and artificial intelligence to enhance security and streamline passenger flow while also training personnel to carry out security tasks professionally," Al Marri added.

This came during Al Marri's inspection visit to the General Department of Airport Security and the Air Wing Center. The visit included a tour of the Dubai Airports Joint Operations Room, where he reviewed the latest programs and technologies used.

Accompanied by Jamal Al Hai, Deputy CEO of Dubai Airports, Al Marri also toured various areas, including the internal devices section, flight transfer zones, employee entry gates at Security Department Terminal 2, and the newly opened travel lounge for people of determination.

During his visit, Al Marri reviewed the significant achievements of the General Department of Airport Security across various operations based on key performance indicators and outcomes. These achievements encompassed all aspects of security, administration, and field operations, in line with national and international standards for civil aviation security.

He also examined the results attained by the General Department of Airport Security, including statistics, significant accomplishments, and initiatives implemented in 2023.

Al Marri received an overview of the role of the General Department of Airport Security in enhancing employee satisfaction through its happiness initiatives plan for 2023. This plan aims to improve happiness levels, ensure sustainable performance and efficiency, and create a motivating work environment, achieving a 100 percent employee motivation rate.

He also reviewed the significant awards won by the General Department of Airport Security in 2023, including the Best Joint Project Award, the Best Innovative Employee Award from the Minister of Interior, the Global Innovation Award for the "Civil Aviation Security Threat Assessment Center" team, the Best Training Center in Dubai Police, Best Male Trainer, Best Female Trainer, Best Training Center for achieving performance indicators, and the "Eighth International Award for Best Practices 2022" for the "Xovis" project from the Global Star Rating System for Services.

Al Marri also inspected the training and qualification processes at the Dubai Civil Aviation Security Center, which has conducted 167 courses benefiting 4,388 trainees. The participants engaged in various training sessions to effectively utilise the latest advanced security devices and technologies at the centre, adhering to international and national standards and security requirements. This training aims to ensure the safety of airports, aircraft, passengers, and baggage, as well as supplies, vehicles, individuals, cargo, and mail, to make Dubai Airports among the safest and most secure in the world.

Al Marri examined the Dubai Police Air Wing's operational framework and vital role in supporting police operations. In 2023, the Air Wing completed 685 missions, including 478 security coverage missions, 155 support missions, 39 air ambulance missions, and 13 search and rescue missions. The average response time was 12 minutes, while the target was 15 minutes.

During the inspection visit, the Commander-in-Chief honoured several outstanding individuals for their remarkable achievements in their respective fields of work.
