ABU DHABI, 26th November, 2024 (WAM) -- Dr Yaser Bishr, an artificial intelligence expert and Advisor to the Chairman of MONIIFY, emphasised the rapid advancements in AI technology and their potential to revolutionise journalism and newsrooms.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Global Media Congress (GMC) in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Bishr highlighted that the progression of AI generations is occurring at an unprecedented pace, noting that it took only two years to move from the first to the second generation.
He also explained that the first generation of AI, introduced with applications like "ChatGPT" in November 2022, focused on general-purpose applications. In contrast, the second generation has enhanced capabilities for deep analysis and multi-perspective responses, which are now widely used.
"We are on the brink of the third generation of AI," Dr. Bishr said, "which will have decision-making capabilities, not just data analysis. In journalism, this generation will enable accurate and objective article writing across diverse fields."
Dr. Bishr also provided insights into the fourth and fifth AI generations.
He also praised the UAE’s initiatives to enhance Arabic digital content, such as the "G42" initiative and the Falcon Foundation launched by the Technology Innovation Institute. These efforts, he said, are foundational for building an Arab knowledge base that aligns AI development with regional culture and values.
