SHARJAH, 28th November, 2024 (WAM) – Engineer Suleiman Abdulrahman Al-Hajri, Member of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Sports Club and Chairman of the Organising Committee for the West Asia Karate Championship, chaired the coordination meeting of the committee in preparation for the launch of the 5th edition of the championship, which will be hosted by Sharjah Sports Club from November 29 to December 2.
The meeting discussed the final arrangements, team readiness, and preparations from all aspects before the whistle blows for the championship, which will witness the largest participation in its history, with over 500 male and female athletes from 10 countries.
Al-Hajri expressed his sincere thanks and deep gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unlimited support for sports and athletes, and to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for his generous patronage of the championship.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee emphasised Sharjah Sports Club's eagerness to host such championships to showcase the emirate's ability to organise and host all sports events and tournaments with the highest level of efficiency. He pointed out that they are proud to host the championship for the second time in Sharjah after the club hosted it in 2022.
