GITEGA, 6th December, 2024 (WAM) -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has partnered with regional hospitals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Burundi to establish isolation centres for monkeypox patients, aiming to improve patient care and curb the virus’s spread among the population.
In a statement issued today, UNICEF announced the creation of care centres for monkeypox patients within regional hospitals in Gitega and Kayanza, in collaboration with NGOs.
The organisation highlighted that patients receive comprehensive care packages, including medical and nutritional support, infection prevention, control measures, and psychosocial assistance.
