CAIRO, 11th December, 2024 (WAM) -- Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker for the Arab Parliament, reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains the primary and central issue for the Arab Parliament, stressing that the Parliament will continue to exert every effort to help the Palestinian people secure their legitimate rights, foremost among which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This statement came during his chairmanship of the first meeting of the Palestine Committee in the Arab Parliament for the first session of the fourth legislative term, held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat.
Al Yamahi stated that the Arab Parliament continuously follows the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, explaining that the Palestinian cause is not just a matter of land, but one deeply rooted within the Arab conscience, transcending territorial boundaries.
He added that the Arab Parliament has taken urgent steps in communicating with regional and international parliamentary organisations, as well as some international institutions, through official letters and diplomatic efforts, calling on them to pressure the occupying entity to end its aggression and halt the criminal attempts to obstruct the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
He reiterated the Arab Parliament’s full support for all efforts undertaken by Arab countries to champion the Palestinian people and defend their legitimate and just rights.
Al Yamahi also called on all international donor institutions and entities to urgently provide additional humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the face of the daily terrorist crimes perpetrated by the occupying entity.
