ABU DHABI, 12th December, 2024 (WAM) -- The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) has announced the launch of its quarterly magazine "Emirates for Human Rights" in both Arabic and English.
The magazine aims to raise awareness of human rights, shed light on contemporary issues, and provide an interactive platform for experts and international specialists.
The magazine aspires to serve as a human rights platform that extends from the UAE to the world, contributing to broadening the horizons of human rights dialogue and enhancing the exchange of expertise and ideas related to human rights on both local and international levels.
The inaugural issue highlights the UAE's humanitarian journey since the establishment of the Union, praising the Document on Human Fraternity and the message of peace originating from the UAE. It also explores the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE, starting from Zayed's legacy going all the way up to the UAE leadership in climate action.
A key section of the magazine is dedicated to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), in recognition of her prominent role in supporting women’s rights and advancing empowerment efforts.
The magazine also reviews the UAE’s national efforts to promote human rights and its contributions to the international human rights scene, including UAHR's participation in sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The first edition highlighted the achievements made within the first year of its establishment.
In the opening editorial, Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Kaabi, President of the UAHR, and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, emphasised the importance of this publication as an independent human rights media platform aimed at supporting both the national and international communities. She noted that the magazine seeks to present insights and ideas that enhance societal awareness of fundamental rights and freedoms, while showcasing national, regional, and international efforts in this field.
Dr. Al Kaabi reaffirmed UAHR's commitment to providing content that reflects national successes in advancing human rights, highlighting inspiring experiences that can be shared globally. She explained that the magazine would keep pace with regional and international human rights developments, offering objective analyses and comprehensive insights to help build more just and progressive societies.
