SHARJAH, 12th December, 2024 (WAM) -- An engaging dialogue session on the future of drama production at Sharjah Media City was attended by a notable assembly of drama professionals and experts.
The session focused on bolstering creative media and elevating the emirate's status as a global hub for artistic and cultural production, drawing attendance from representatives of "Shams," along with media professionals, talents, and enthusiasts.
The discussion addressed enhancing the future of the drama industry, tackling challenges presented by technological advancements, digital platforms, and streaming services, along with the changing demands of audiences.
The participants emphasised the importance of cultural identity in content creation and engaged in a discussion about successful regional drama productions. They highlighted the essential role of scriptwriting in fostering the industry's growth, pointing out that a carefully constructed script is key for marketing and production.
The conversation also highlighted challenges including shortage of innovative, in-depth scripts, insufficient funding for large-scale productions, and obstacles in finding and nurturing new talent. Despite these challenges, participants agreed that drama remains a powerful tool for cultural and social change, provided it shares bold and globally aware stories.
The session wrapped up with a call for enhanced institutional and community backing, a more defined approach to script development, and the integration of contemporary technologies to advance the regional drama sector.
