AL AIN, 14th December, 2024 (WAM) -- The speed chess competition in the Asian Individual Chess Championship for men and women for the amateur category is set to start tomorrow in Al Ain under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The tournament, which will continue until 23rd December, will see the participation of 600 male and female players from 33 countries competing in four competitions for classic, speed and blitz chess for international classification categories, sponsored by the Asian Chess Federation.
The participants have flocked to Al Ain city in preparation for the start of the tournament, where the technical meeting will be held at 11:00 tomorrow to conduct the draw and announce the tournament regulations to the heads of delegations and players.
The classic chess tournament will be held from 16th to 22nd December and will conclude with an awards ceremony, while the speed chess tournament will start tomorrow and conclude on the same day, and the blitz chess tournament will start on 19th December and conclude on the same day.
