BEIRUT, 19th December, 2024 (WAM) -- The 21st UAE aid aircraft has arrived at Beirut Airport, as part of the UAE stands with Lebanon campaign, launched at the beginning of October to support the Lebanese people, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with follow-up from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
This aircraft is part of a series of several UAE humanitarian relief initiatives, including the establishment of a sustained humanitarian air bridge to support the Lebanese people during the challenging, urgent, and critical times witnessed across the region. These initiatives aim to ensure early recovery, address essential needs, and promote security and stability.
In this regard, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, emphasised the UAE's steadfast international commitment to respond promptly to those impacted by such wars and conflicts.
These efforts are integral to the humanitarian legacy established by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his unwavering approach to providing assistance and aid to people in need worldwide.
Furthermore, Al Shamsi added that the UAE, its leadership, government, and people, will continue supplying essential humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese people. This commitment reflects the values of solidarity, cooperation, and support that are deeply embedded in Emirati society, extending across all times and circumstances to aid communities and nations enduring catastrophes, crises, wars, and conflicts.
Al Shamsi also highlighted that the 21st UAE aid aircraft carried a variety of essential medical supplies to address the essential needs of numerous Lebanese children, women, and elderly people.
