ADJD raises awareness of rights, obligations of domestic workers

ABU DHABI, 22nd January, 2025 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Councils at the Citizens and Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court, organised an awareness lecture on the Domestic Workers Law.

The lecture aims to promote legal awareness and foster a community culture of understanding rights and obligations under the law.

The lecture, held at Majlis Al Mu'tarid Saif bin Maya Al Afari in Al Amerah area of Al Ain city, Counselor Ali Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, outlined key provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022 on Domestic Workers, highlighting legal guarantees for both workers and employers. Topics covered included contract terms, wages, working hours, vacations, and mechanisms for resolving disputes efficiently.

Al Hashemi emphasised the UAE's commitment to fostering a respectful work environment rooted in justice and social stability. He noted that the country’s approach to regulating labour relations balances the rights and responsibilities of both parties, ensuring compliance with national laws and values.
