RAS AL KHAIMAH, 9th April 2025 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Ras Al Khaimah and the City of Moscow.
The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration between the Municipalities of Ras Al Khaimah and Moscow across key sectors of mutual interest, promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the fields of technology, trade, investment, culture, sports and education.
The signing ceremony took place during H.H. Sheikh Saud’s reception of a high-level government delegation from Moscow, led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of Moscow’s Department for External Economic and International Relations.
The meeting was also attended by Oleg Fomin, Consul General of Russia in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, along with the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Saud and Sergey Cheremin discussed the strong bonds of friendship and strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Russia.
They explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation across key sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing relations towards lasting prosperity and progress.
They also exchanged views on a range of economic and commercial areas of mutual interest, including the existing partnerships between Ras Al Khaimah and several Russian companies operating within the Emirate. These partnerships are especially significant given Ras Al Khaimah’s thriving investment and economic environment, which continues to attract and support business growth and development.
Sheikh Saud asserted that Ras Al Khaimah is committed to forging new avenues for cooperation and strengthening international partnerships across a range of vital sectors, aiming to further enhance the emirate’s regional and global standing and accelerate its digital transformation — leveraging advanced technology and smart applications to shape a bright, prosperous future.
His Highness welcomed the MoU between the Governments of Ras Al Khaimah and the City of Moscow, stating that it reflects a shared vision to deepen collaboration across various key sectors, particularly technology, to drive economic growth and support comprehensive, sustainable development.
The MoU, signed by Sergey Cheremin and Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Special Advisor to His Highness, on behalf of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, focuses on cooperation between the Municipalities of Ras Al Khaimah and Moscow in areas such as digital transformation and smart cities, while enhancing the exchange of knowledge in fields including telecommunications and information technology, transportation, infrastructure, urban planning, the environment, industrial development and innovation.
The MoU also opens opportunities for greater collaboration in trade and investment, culture, sports and education.
Sergey Cheremin expressed his gratitude to H.H. the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah for his warm reception and generous hospitality, stating that the MoU between the Municipalities of Moscow and the Emirate reflects the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and paves the way for enduring and comprehensive development on both sides.
H.H. Sheikh Saud hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting delegation.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including heads and directors of local and federal departments, along with representatives from both sides.
