Abu Dhabi Mobility highlights its role in supporting smart tourism at ATM 2025

ABU DHABI, 2nd May, 2025 (WAM) -- The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, participated in Arabian Travel Market 2025 as part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi pavilion, highlighting smart and sustainable transport solutions that support the emirate’s tourism growth.

The exhibition served as a global platform for showcasing the rising influence of AI in tourism, with Abu Dhabi Mobility presenting its latest public and private mobility initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and visitor experience.

Abu Dhabi Mobility showcased advancements in the taxi sector, including digital platforms such as Abu Dhabi Taxi and Yango. The emirate’s 6,168-vehicle taxi fleet, of which 87 percent are low-emission, recorded more than 99 million passengers in 2024. Smart platforms accounted for 88 percent of bookings, and over 28.8 million transactions were made via electronic payments.

The centre also highlighted the expansion of autonomous vehicle operations, particularly around Zayed International Airport, with plans to extend routes to other areas to support smart tourism initiatives.

The Salama app, developed for school transport, allows real-time tracking of over 9,300 buses and has been used by more than 81,000 parents. Abu Dhabi Mobility also presented Asateel, a digital platform managing permits for freight, school and passenger transport, with 8,381 commercial buses and 7,910 permits issued this year.

The Abu Dhabi Express service, offering fast public transport between key areas, now includes 47 buses operated by seven authorised providers. Public bus transport remains central to the emirate’s smart tourism strategy, with 146 routes and 796 buses serving over 95 million trips in 2024. Services such as Abu Dhabi Link and the Mass Rapid Transit system further enhance connectivity and travel convenience.

In the maritime sector, Abu Dhabi Mobility is developing digital platforms for vessel licensing, berth certification, and marine transport booking, in cooperation with strategic partners to boost marine tourism and service accessibility.

In aviation, the centre contributes to shaping policy, enhancing air connectivity, supporting airport infrastructure planning, and improving service efficiency. It works closely with airports and airlines to support tourism growth and facilitate access to Abu Dhabi.
