ABU DHABI, 7th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, inaugurated a permanent exhibition for showcasing and selling traditional products, handicrafts, and artistic works created by inmates of correctional and rehabilitation centres, at the Department’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The opening ceremony was attended by Counselor Ali Mohammed Al Blooshi, Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, along with several sectors and divisions directors from the ADJD.
Al Abri affirmed that this initiative reflects the Department’s commitment to adopting best practices in the care and rehabilitation of inmates. He explained that the Department provides inmates with comprehensive rehabilitation programmes that include vocational training, continuing education, behavioural development, and psychological and social support. These efforts contribute to developing the concept of reform as a means to achieve sustainable justice and ensure community safety.
He noted that vocational training workshops for inmates aim to open up new opportunities for them in the job market upon completion of their sentences, thereby facilitating their reintegration into social and economic life.
Al Abri also pointed out the Department’s ongoing implementation of innovative initiatives in the field of inmate care, rehabilitation, and reform, which contribute to developing the work system and enhancing the quality of services provided to support inmates’ rehabilitation and reintegration into society, in accordance with international best practices and experiences.
The permanent exhibition features a diverse collection of traditional products and creative handcrafted works made by the inmates, which embody Emirati cultural identity, heritage, customs, and traditions, and highlight the nation's cultural legacy.
