Fujairah's chemical industries sector key contributor to emirate's sustainable development

FUJAIRAH, 7th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Fujairah's industrial sector is experiencing a significant boost, driving economic growth with the recent opening of several factories, including the Apex Chemicals Factory with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes in two phases.

With its well-suited infrastructure and comprehensive logistical services, the emirate's industrial sector has successfully attracted and supported quality industries, exemplified by the production of ground calcium carbonate, basalt fiber, rock wool, and similar materials.

These facilities also apply the highest standards of quality and sustainability in the optimal utilisation of natural resources to preserve the environment.

Engineer Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation Board of Directors, underscored in media in statements the significant role of the emirate in establishing an optimal environment for industrial operations within its various natural resource and mining domains. This initiative, he said, aligns with the UAE wise leadership's vision to bolster development and economic prosperity. He also noted that the Apex Chemicals Factory represents a prominent example of how to strengthen markets with quality and essential goods.

Engineer Ali Qasim, Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, said that the Emirate of Fujairah enjoys abundant natural resources that are optimally utilised, including calcium carbonate, which is used in many applications such as building materials, plastics, food, and paint industries, thus contributing directly and indirectly to supplying local and global markets, based on studies and research on these resources.

Industrial projects contribute to strengthening the emirate's position as an advanced industrial zone and a contributor to sustainable development, adopting and implementing the best international practices and serving as a role model in this respect.
