Medical retirement applications can be submitted via 'Ma’ashi' platform: GPSSA

ABU DHABI, 13th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) said Emiratis seeking retirement due to disability or work-related injury may do so only after a thorough medical evaluation. The evaluation must be conducted and approved by a designated medical committee once the employing entity completes all required procedures.

Over the past year, 479 “Work Fitness Assessment” applications were submitted through GPSSA’s Ma’ashi digital platform, of which 130 were approved based on criteria for disability and unfitness-to-work criteria, the authority stated.

Both government and private sector employers are expected to submit the assessment application via Ma’ashi if an employee is deemed medically unfit to continue working. The request must include a certified medical report approved by a UAE-based government hospital within the past six months, a medical examination conducted at the time of employment, a valid Emirates ID, and a recent personal photo.

Applications that meet GPSSA’s requirements are forwarded to a medical committee formed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention. The committee evaluates total disability or non-fitness conditions under the federal pension and social security law. If approved, the insured individual becomes eligible for a pension without the need for a minimum service period.

Employers are then required to complete the end-of-service procedures via Ma’ashi, including uploading the medical committee’s approval. Pension payments are calculated based on the insured’s actual contribution period—15 years if below that threshold, or the total period contributed if above.
