Abdulla Al Hamed meets editors-in-chief of UAE media

DUBAI, 14th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, has affirmed that the development of the national media landscape is a continuous path guided by the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, which views responsible media as a key partner in supporting the country's development journey and reinforcing national identity.

Al Hamed made these remarks during his meeting with editors-in-chief of local media institutions, held at the Creators HQ in Emirates Towers, Dubai.

The meeting was dedicated to exploring ways to advance media efforts and strengthen cooperation between media institutions to produce purposeful national content that reflects the UAE’s values and aligns with the aspirations of its society.

At the outset, Al Hamed praised the efforts of the editors-in-chief in shaping a media discourse that highlights the UAE’s achievements and progressive model. He stressed the importance of the coming phase, which requires greater integration between various media platforms, investment in national talent and creative content, and efforts to enhance the competitiveness of UAE media both regionally and internationally.

The meeting also addressed key issues related to media's role in supporting stability and development, while highlighting challenges within the digital media landscape, especially in the face of rising misinformation and disinformation campaigns on social media platforms.

In this context, Al Hamed underscored the importance of building a cohesive national media narrative that accurately conveys the UAE’s reality and values, calling for credibility and professionalism in reporting facts.

He affirmed the National Media Office’s commitment to ongoing coordination with all media institutions and to intensifying efforts to consolidate an advanced institutional media model capable of addressing challenges, anticipating future developments, and strengthening the UAE’s regional and international standing.

Al Hamed also called for the formulation of national media strategies aligned with the directives of the leadership and in step with technological and digital transformations. He highlighted the role of media in countering rumours and negative influence on public opinion, and in raising societal awareness through authentic stories told directly from the field.

He further emphasised the importance of crafting a media message that resonates both locally and globally, reflecting the human values that distinguish the UAE as a beacon of tolerance and justice. These values, he said, must be central to the national media discourse and serve to project the true image of the UAE to the world.

Editors-in-chief expressed their appreciation for Al Hamed’s commitment to direct engagement with media leadership, noting the importance of such meetings in unifying efforts and enhancing collaboration. They also commended his call to uphold professional standards, empower youth, and develop media content that aligns with the UAE’s aspirations for the future.
