BAGHDAD, 15th May 2025 (WAM) -- Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein of Iraq officially assumed the chairmanship of the preparatory meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers, receiving the position on Thursday from his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
According to the Iraqi news agency (INA), the handover took place during the foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting for the 34th session of the Arab League Council at the summit level, currently being held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General, pointed out that “the meeting is taking place at a time when the region and the world are witnessing serious developments with significant repercussions on Arab states."
Arab foreign ministers arrived in Baghdad yesterday to participate in this key preparatory meeting ahead of the upcoming summit.
