Families central to building cohesive, resilient communities: Secretary-General of Education Council

ABU DHABI, 15th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Hajer Ahmed Althehli, Secretary-General of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, stressed the family’s vital role as a cornerstone of sustainable development and a key pillar in shaping individuals and cohesive communities.

In a statement marking the International Day of Families, Althehli noted that every educated child, ambitious youth, and empowered individual begins their journey within a family that nurtures, supports, and instils core values and knowledge.

She stressed that the family, as the essential unit of society, plays a vital role in maintaining the balance between economic, social, and cultural progress. Driven by this belief, the Education, Human Development, and Community Development Council continues to design initiatives and programmes to strengthen the family’s role in fostering healthy upbringing, life skills, and lifelong learning, contributing to the overall well-being of individuals and society.

Althehli added that the International Day of Families serves as a collective reminder of our responsibility to empower families, foster their growth, and support them as environments of hope, capable of meeting challenges and raising generations that will lead the nation toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
