Dubai hosts launch of K 2025, set for Germany

DUBAI,16th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Dubai hosted the launch of K 2025, the world’s largest trade fair for the plastics, rubber, and recycling industries, set to take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 8th to 15th October 2025.

This announcement came at a press conference held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel, and was attended by an official delegation from the organising body Messe Düsseldorf, alongside senior executives and representatives from major industrial entities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman. The strong Gulf presence highlighted the rapid industrial development across the region.

K 2025 is set to host more than 3,000 exhibitors from around the world, including over 10 specialised companies from the UAE, such as EnerPlastics, SRG Global, and Multi Trade Group, as well as over 10 major Saudi companies, most notably SABIC, the petrochemical giant. The event is expected to attract more than 180,000 visitors from 167 countries. The previous edition recorded unprecedented global and regional attendance, reinforcing K’s reputation as a premier platform for industrial technology and innovation.

Petra Cullmann, Executive Director of Messe Düsseldorf, expressed pride in the organisation's strong partnership with Dubai, stating that choosing the city as a key stop in the K 2025 promotional tour reflects international trust in the UAE’s industrial and commercial standing.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Dubai, a leading industrial and commercial centre in the Middle East. Selecting it as a stop in K 2025’s global roadshow reflects the international confidence in the UAE’s dynamic role in industrial advancement.”

She added, “Our presence at Dubai’s ArabPlast with a prominent participation from Europe and other countries further strengthens ties with the region, supported by the proactive engagement of the UAE and Gulf-based partners keen to foster impactful international cooperation.”

According to the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), Gulf countries produce over 35 million tons of plastic annually, representing 15% of global output, with around 85% exported to international markets.

The sector’s annual revenue exceeds US$100 billion, employing over 160,000 people directly. Recycling rates in the region are projected to increase by 9.3% in the coming year, positioning the Gulf as a key player in advancing sustainable industries worldwide.

This year’s edition of K will be held under the theme “The Power of Plastics! Green – Smart – Responsible”, focusing on three central pillars: the circular economy, digital transformation, and social responsibility. The event will feature interactive platforms such as the VDMA Forum and the special exhibition “Plastics Shape the Future”, providing an ideal stage for industry leaders to exchange knowledge, build meaningful partnerships, and explore cutting-edge global innovations.

K 2025 also serves as a strategic platform to highlight both Gulf and global leadership in key industrial sectors, while supporting the region’s role in reinforcing global supply chains and driving the shift toward a sustainable circular economy.
