Al Ain Zoo hosts students to advance skills in innovation, sustainability

AL AIN, 20th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre at Al Ain Zoo recently welcomed a group of students from different education levels participating organised by the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi. The visit formed part of broader efforts to strengthen student and teacher competencies in innovation and future-focused learning.

Designed to nurture critical thinking and problem-solving skills, the visit offers a dynamic educational experience rooted in inquiry-based learning. In parallel, educators engaged in workshops focused on utilising AI to improve teaching strategies and curriculum-delivery in the context of international assessments.

The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre was selected as the venue for its pioneering role in environmental education and sustainability. With its rich resources and real-world examples of ecological innovation, the centre provided an ideal setting for students and teachers to immerse themselves in meaningful learning experiences.

The visit included a comprehensive agenda featuring an introduction to the Centre, collaborative project development sessions, and student presentations, which were evaluated by experts.

Throughout the programme, the centre reaffirmed its commitment to education by offering access to scientific resources, mentorship from specialists, and a research-friendly environment that promotes innovation at all academic levels.

The centre is also exploring the development of an integrated educational package, including an interactive safari experience, to further engage students beyond the traditional classroom and museum setting.
