AL AIN, 29th May, 2025 (WAM) -- Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, affirmed that the ongoing Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition at ADNEC Centre Al Ain serves as a vital platform for exchanging ideas and developing innovative solutions to address the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr. Al Dahak noted that the conference and its accompanying exhibition bring together a range of partners, including federal and local government entities, major private sector companies and entrepreneurs. These stakeholders contribute to the advancement of the sector by developing practical solutions to current challenges and establishing companies that work on implementing those solutions.
She highlighted the central role of the academic sector in this effort, with universities and research centres participating in the exhibition by showcasing studies focused on local agricultural challenges. Students are also presenting promising research projects that carry innovative solutions, which are being developed into commercial ventures through start-up companies.
Al Dahak emphasised the importance of including farmers and producers, who represent the backbone of the sector. Around 100 farmers and producers across various agricultural specialisations are participating, exchanging expertise and displaying their products.
She pointed to the formal launch of the National Agricultural Centre during the exhibition as one of the key initiatives under the Plant the Emirates National Programme. The centre aims to establish a roadmap to achieve key goals over the next five years, such as expanding organically cultivated land, reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing agricultural productivity.
The centre, she explained, will act as a link between farmers and the private sector, with its core function being to provide support and practical solutions for challenges faced by farmers.
She also referenced several agreements signed during the exhibition and conference that are designed to directly tackle these challenges by building capacities, offering marketing opportunities, supporting agri-tech innovation and strengthening agricultural scientific research.
