ADQCC, DoH to launch ‘Nutri-Mark' initiative in Q4 2025

ABU DHABI, 30th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), has announced the postponement of the official implementation of the Nutri-Mark initiative, which was initially scheduled for June 2025, to the fourth quarter of the same year.

The joint decision underscores the commitment of both entities to supporting food manufacturers, retailers, health professionals and regulatory authorities by allowing sufficient time to adapt production processes and reformulate products, ensuring the initiative’s effective and sustainable implementation in line with approved standards.

The initiative has received strong support from the industrial sector, with many companies expressing their readiness to contribute to its success and adopt its guidelines. Food industry professionals regard Nutri-Mark as a valuable tool that enhances transparency and supports innovation in product development, aligning with the rising consumer demand for healthier food options.

This postponement provides additional time to strengthen collaboration and develop effective implementation mechanisms that are aligned with the sector’s needs.

The initiative’s organisers also received valuable feedback from partners in the healthcare sector, emphasising the need to enhance the awareness and educational components of the initiative to ensure its clarity and impact across all segments of society.

Accordingly, the DoH and the ADQCC believe that postponing the implementation of the Nutri-Mark Initiative will significantly contribute to delivering high-quality services to consumers.

This will enable the initiative to fully achieve its objectives of empowering consumers and encouraging the industry to develop products with greater nutritional value.

The Nutri-Mark initiative is a pioneering effort to promote healthy eating habits in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE. It provides clear, easy-to-understand nutritional information on packaging, helping consumers make more informed food choices. The initiative also creates a supportive framework for manufacturers to adopt healthier and more innovative production methods, contributing to the reduction of diet-related chronic disease risks.

ADQCC and DoH reaffirm their joint commitment to implementing a reliable and effective programme based on the highest international scientific standards. The coming period will be used to adopt best practices, expand strategic partnerships, and launch awareness campaigns to ensure the initiative reaches all segments of the community.
