5.3-magnitude quake hits Kermadec Islands region, New Zealand

KERMADEC ISLANDS, 4th February, 2026 (WAM) -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck the Kermadec Islands region in New Zealand at 02:07 GMT on Wednesday, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

The epicentre was located at a depth of 10 kilometres, at 27.13 degrees south latitude and 175.69 degrees west longitude.
