Korean stocks open at record high

SEOUL, 11th May, 2026 (WAM) -- Korean stocks opened trading today at a new record high, surpassing the 7,700-point mark, supported by continued gains in major semiconductor shares.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened at a record 7,775.31 points, up 277.31 points, or 3.7 percent.

Shares of Micron Technology surged 15.49 percent, while semiconductor maker AMD rose 11.44 percent and Nvidia gained 1.75 percent.
