Dozens killed in landslide at mine in Central African Republic

BANGUI, 15th May, 2026 (WAM) -- Dozens of people were killed in a landslide in the Central African Republic near the border with Cameroon.

The landslide occurred at the Bi-Mbari site in Nana-Mambéré prefecture in the west of the country, according to local residents and an official from the municipality of Abba.

The municipal official said many bodies remain buried, while search operations for missing persons are continuing, noting that activities at the mine have been suspended.
