HAWAII, 12th August, 2026 (WAM) -- A magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck southeast of Naalehu in the US state of Hawaii.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred 45 kilometres from Naalehu at a depth of 7.2 kilometres.
Hawaii lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where several tectonic plates meet, resulting in frequent volcanic and seismic activity that can at times be strong. It is also home to Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes.
