SEWA launches environmental awareness programme for 4,000 students

SHARJAH, 24th August, 2026 (WAM) -- The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is organising its 2026 “Aware Generation, Sustainable Future” programme throughout September, coinciding with the start of the 2026-27 academic year.

The initiative aims to strengthen environmental awareness among young people and promote a culture of sustainability, with around 4,000 students from government and private schools across Sharjah expected to benefit.

The programme will feature a series of awareness workshops and interactive activities, using innovative approaches tailored to students across different age groups and educational stages.

Rashed Al Marzouqi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at SEWA, said the programme focuses on promoting the rational use of electricity, water and gas and on encouraging positive behaviours that help conserve natural resources.

It will also raise awareness of the importance of clean energy and of the role individuals can play in protecting the environment and supporting sustainable development.

Al Marzouqi said the programme would help develop students’ sense of responsibility for vital resources and services, supporting Sharjah’s efforts to build a more sustainable future.

He added that the initiative reflects SEWA’s commitment to raising community awareness, strengthening partnerships with educational institutions, and promoting responsible consumption among future generations.
