'Zayed Authority' enhances healthcare, rehabilitation services for People of Determination

ABU DHABI, 1st October, 2026 (WAM) -- Zayed Authority for People of Determination has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Canadian Medical Centre to develop a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing healthcare and rehabilitation services for People of Determination, supporting their independence and inclusion in society.

The MoU was signed by Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, and Mubarak Faleh Hamoud Jarrah Al Qahtani, General Manager of Canadian Medical Centre. The signing ceremony took place at the Authority’s headquarters in the presence of senior representatives from both entities.

The partnership is part of the Authority’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with specialised healthcare institutions and develop high-quality services based on leading medical and rehabilitation practices.

Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on the design and implementation of an integrated programme for the management of scoliosis and postural disorders. The programme will include specialised medical examinations and assessments, awareness activities, coordination of rehabilitation and orthotic services, and regular follow-up for beneficiaries.

Canadian Medical Centre will conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including evaluations of posture, gait and spinal alignment. It will oversee the design, manufacture and fitting of customised orthotic devices using high-quality medical-grade materials, in addition to providing 200 pairs of medical footwear and offering podiatry and chiropractic services.

The MoU also covers training and rehabilitation programmes to enhance the readiness of People of Determination to enter the labour market, as well as joint initiatives supporting national priorities and community objectives in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Al Humaidan said the partnership reflects the Authority’s commitment to building an integrated ecosystem of healthcare and rehabilitation services in collaboration with specialised national institutions, contributing to the delivery of higher-quality and more sustainable services that meet the needs of People of Determination.

He said the MoU is an important step towards developing specialised programmes in medical assessment, rehabilitation and the management of scoliosis and postural disorders, while also supporting the training and rehabilitation of People of Determination and enhancing their readiness to enter the labour market.

He added that investing in the health and capabilities of People of Determination is an investment in a more inclusive and sustainable future and reflects the vision of the UAE leadership to build a society that ensures equal opportunities and empowerment for all.

For his part, Al Qahtani said the MoU represents an important step towards building a strategic partnership with Zayed Authority for People of Determination, contributing to the provision of specialised healthcare and rehabilitation services that improve the quality of life of People of Determination and enhance their independence and inclusion in society, in line with the UAE’s vision to provide a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare ecosystem.

He expressed Canadian Medical Centre’s keenness to leverage its medical expertise in the treatment of scoliosis and postural disorders, orthotic devices and podiatry services, while supporting training and rehabilitation programmes and joint initiatives.
