ABU DHABI, JUNE 12, 2001 (WAM)--Dubai Municipality will issue a commemorative silver coin as part of its programme to enhance public awareness on Dubai's heritage. It has also lined up a host of other activities including an exhibition and a seminar. +The new programmes are aimed at educating the emirate's public including nationals, expatriates and tourists on its rich cultural heritage,+ said head of the Historical Buildings Section at the General Projects Department of the municipality, Engineer Rashad Mohammed Bukhash, according to reports in the UAE's dailies. Bukhash said the commemorative silver coin with a face value of Dh 50 would be issued soon in co-ordination with the UAE Central Bank. Printed on one side of the coin is the front-view of Al Ahmediya Secondary School. This school, built by the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk in 1912, was the first regular school in Dubai where many distinguished scholars and dignitaries of the emirate received their education. A portrait of the founder of modern Dubai, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, will appear on the other side, the reports said. WAM-VV
