New faces in UAE's cabinet reshuffle
The reshuffle is the seventh of its kind since the creation of the federation on December 2, 1971.
Major General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who took over as interior Minister, graduated from the UAE University in political science.
Born in Al Ain in 1968, he joined the Abu Dhabi Police Department as a first lieutenant in 1990 and gradually rose to the rank of a major general in 1998.
In 1995, Sheikh Saif held the post of Acting Director of the Abu Dhabi Police and took over as Director General in the same year before he was appointed in 1997 as Under Secretary of the Interior Ministry, a position he has been holding until he was named as Minister of Interior in Monday's reshuffle.
Sheikh Saif is a recipient of an award for dedicated service in 2000 and a charitable medal from the Red Crescent Society.
The portfolio of the Ministry of Presidency Affairs went to Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was born in 1970. A holder of a bachelor degree in international relations from US in 1993, Sheikh Mansour oversaw the set up of the President's office, which he remains its Director General.
He also chairs Boards of Directors of Abu Dhabi Petroleum Investment Company and First Gulf Bank and was the Deputy Chairman of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works.
Another new face in the cabinet is Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who was born on March 21, 1959. A graduate from the UAE University in political science and business administration in 1982.
In 1985, he was appointed as Under Secretary of Abu Dhabi Civil Aviation Department and then as its Chairman in 1991, of which he is still an incumbent.
He is also CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation Company and Royal Jet and alternate Chairman of Gulf Air.
Sheikh Hamdan is member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the Supreme Consultancy Committee for the Development of Abu Dhabi Emirate as well as Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Media Inc. MORE WAM/AZ 18 04 CCCCQQE
