UAE-Oman border demarcation maps signed
The agreement was signed on 1st May 1999 during the visit made by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to Sultante Oman and his meeting with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed.
Major General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'afar, Interior Ministry's Under secretary, signed the maps on behalf of the UAE, while his Omani counterpart, Mohammed bin Sultan Al Bu' Saidi, signed on behalf of Oman.
The border in this sector were already demarcated by means of two agreements signed in 1959 and 1960 between the late Sheikh Shakhbout bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sultan Saeed bin Taymour.
Umm Al Zumool is the meeting point of the tripartite borders between the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Contacts between the three countries to specify the exact location of this point are underway.
