Sudanese Siamese twins back in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is bearing the full cost of the medical treatment of Al Hassan and Al Hussein, is closely following up the progress of the medical treatment the Siamese twins are receiving under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi General Authority for Health Services (GAHS).
The twins and their parents were received on arrival by a team of medical officials from the Central Medical Zone, led by its Director Isa Al Rumaithy, who is also the Director of the Mafraq Hospital.
According to Dr. Amin Al Johari, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Section at the hospital, who is also supervising the team of medical doctors in charge of treating the twins, cosmetic surgery would be conducted on the twins today, adding that the patients would remain at the hospital for a while before leaving back to Sudan.
He pointed out that all the organs of the separated three-and- a-half year old Siamese twins are functioning very normal without any complication.
The Acting Charge d'Affaires at the Sudanese Embassy, Essam Awadh, expressed profound gratitude and deep appreciation to the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince for his concern and close follow-up of the situation of the Sudanese twins. He prayed to God to reward Sheikh Mohammed with good health.
