Mohammed issues resolutions on patient's companion leave
Dubai, Nov.15,2006 (WAM) -- Non-national government employee parents are entitled to a 21 day-paid leave to escort their under 10 years old sick child for treatment inside the country, according a resolution issued by .H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

''The wife or the husband shall be allowed, at the absence of the former, to escort her/his sick kid who is under 10 year old for treatment inside the country as per a leave of 21 paid days or the period the treatment will take,'' the resolution said.

The leave for accompanying a patient inside the country shall be awarded by the competent minister for the second grade employees and above. The leave for the third grade employees and above shall be issued by the competent ministry under secretary.

According to the resolution, the competent minister can give, based on an attested medical report, the employee a month-long paid leave to escort his patient child for treatment abroad. Should the leave go beyond that period and the employee demand for more days, the minister is empowered to extend the leave for not more than 15 paid days.

If the escort completed the assigned said periods, the issue shall be raised to the civil service council for action.

The resolution shall be published in the gazette and take effect from the date of its issue.
