Saudi Hawks amuse audience with spectacular displays, formations
The team members usually review their previous displays and evaluate their participations inside and outside the country before working on a new formation, and this can not be achieved without the cooperation of all team members of pilots, technicians, and directors.
The Saudi team amused the audience of Al Ain Aerobatic Show with spectacular and precise air shows. They managed to draw the official emblem of Saudi Arabia, a palm tree and two swords, in the sky with color smoke columns of their jet aircraft, and they were the first team in the world that managed to perform such difficult act. They also performed many other eye-catching formations.
The 'Saudi Hawks' team was formed several years ago upon approval by Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation, and Inspector General, and the team made their first official participation in an Air Show, which was part of Riyadh's 100th anniversary celebrations.
The team won the 1st place and gold medals at Al Ain Aerobatic Show for two times in a row, in 2004 and 2005.
The word of the Saudi Air Force Commander in the introduction of the team's booklet included that man's admiration of flying started long ago, as he was attracted by seeing the bird flying freely in space and crossing long distances uncaring for barriers and high walls.
This admiration was a major motive for man to create aircraft, and when that was done, man first feared aircraft and dealt with it cautiously, but after balancing between the engine power and the aircraft body he more trusted it and started to use it for air transportation, exploration, and even air battles. Then, he started to use it to show his power and skills of air acrobatics in front of spectators near the ground. The beginning was with one aircraft, but with the increasing experience and skills the number of aircraft was increased. People admired this brave and spectacular performance, so that air shows developed a lot, and the countries (particularly big industrial ones) formed aerobatic teams and spent a lot of money to show the capabilities of their professional pilots.
The 'Saudi Hawks' team is one of those few aerobatic teams in the world.
The team represents not only the Air Forces and Armed Forces, but also the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in international events. So, we ask God to protect them all at this brave and risky work, and wish them safety and preeminence at their air shows.
