WAM Dubai, Jun 24th, 2008 (WAM): The National Olympic committee announced today that Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will hoist UAE's flag at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The announcement comes in appreciation of Sheikha Maitha's achievements expressed by the people in the UAE, the sports persons and the Olympic Committee.

International champion Sheikha Maitha has won several medals in Karate on Arab, regional and international levels.
