Mansour bin Zayed inaugurates new beach on Abu Dhabi corniche
The opening ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, HE Dr Jawan Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Municipal Affairs Department, Sheikhs, Ministers and diplomats.
Sheikh Mansour cut the ribbon, tipped to enter the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest ceremonial ribbon.
He toured the beach area and watched part of the celebrations held.
Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, Director of Abu Dhabi Municipality thanked President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces for their keenness to provide decent living standards to the citizens and resident in Abu Dhabi.
The 2-kilometer long beach has swimming areas, entertainment arena, four beach volleyball grounds and 170 umbrellas. It also has a central area which encompasses a prayer room, fast food kiosks and a dining arena. Other facilities include bathrooms, changing rooms, public toilets and walking pathways.
