ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2015 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has opened Al Aziz Mosque in Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the UAE President's guest scholars.
Sheikh Nahyan and the audience performed Friday Prayer at the mosque. Built on an area of 5,100 metres square, the mosque can accommodate 2,500 worshipers.
Sheikh Nahyan toured the mosque and was briefed on its components. The mosque was constructed in accordance with the latest sophisticated technology. It was built at a cost of AED 65 million at the expense of Hasan Abdullah Ismaik. The new mosque comprises of three divisions which include main prayer room and a smaller one in addition to a female prayer room.
Dr. Mohammed Mattar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and Mohammed Obeid al Mazrouei, the Executive Director of Islamic Affairs and Endowments at the Authority attended the event.
