Sheikha Fatima welcomes adoption of national strategy for motherhood and childhood

ABU DHABI, 26th March, 2017 (WAM)--H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has welcomed the adoption of the national strategy for motherhood and childhood by the Cabinet.

She also welcomed the UAE national strategy to promote the rights of children with disabilities, and maximise their well-being 2017- 2021.

In a statement, Sheikha Fatima, said, "The adoption of these two strategies by the Cabinet reflects care of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of Emirates, about women, Emirati mothers and their children, being the backbone of future."

Mother of the Nation noted that the quick response of the state to adopt the national strategy for motherhood and childhood and the national strategy to promote the rights of children with disabilities and maximise their well-being 2017- 2021, demonstrates the leadership's interest in backing these two important categories.

She praised the efforts of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in cooperation with Unicef, to prepare these two strategies as references to decision makers regarding the childhood and their well-being in the UAE.

Sheikha Fatima called on Emirati women to implement these two strategies.
