Sultan Al Qasimi opens Sharjah cancer research laboratory in London

LONDON, 8th April 2017 (WAM) - H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, H.H. Sheikha Jawahir bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, opened on Friday the Sharjah Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute in London.
Sheikh Sultan praised the efforts made by scientists and researchers to find cures for the diseases, adding that the Sharjah Laboratory will act as a beacon for research on chronic diseases like cancer.
Sheikh Sultan and Sheikha Jawahir, who is the Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), were received by Sir Harpal Kumar is Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK, Julian Downward, Assistant Director of Research at the Crick and other officials.
The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.
